Conference Rooms & Group Study Areas

Students in Conference RoomThere are a number of conference rooms in the Law Library - New Wing. Unless these are in use by competitive moot teams, they are available on an ad hoc basis to groups of three or more law students, or to one or more law faculty members, for Law School or Law Library related activities only, as follows.

Law Library conference room bookings are handled exclusively by the Law Library. Please apply at the Circulation Desk in person or by phone (458-7983) to reserve and use conference rooms. Law students may book a conference room up to THREE (3) days in advance of when the room is to be used.

Conference Rooms 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 may be reserved by law students for short-term use (three hours or less) unless they are in use by competitive moot teams. At the end of the three-hour period, the room must be relinquished to another group of law students who has reserved it.  If no other group has a reservation, the original group may come to the Circulation Desk and ask to extend their use for another three hours.

When conference rooms are not reserved by groups of three or more law students, they may be used for up to three hours by ONE or TWO students. Advanced bookings are not available for fewer than three users, and priority will be given to groups of three or more. Again, at the end of the three-hour period, the room must be relinquished to another group of law students who has reserved it.  If no other group has a reservation, the original group may come to the Circulation Desk and ask to extend their use for another three hours.

Conference Room 2, equipped with state-of-the-art multi-media instructional equipment and seating for 25 persons, is normally reserved for law librarian and Law Faculty multi-media teaching sessions. When it is not in use for teaching, at certain times of the year and subject to a librarian's approval, Conference Room 2 may also be used by law students for group study or conferencing, on an ad hoc basis, the same as the other conference rooms (see above). Please inquire about using Room 2 at the Circulation Desk.

The library's A/V Viewing Room is primarily for viewing videos and DVDs but if it is not in use for that purpose, it can be used on as a conference room, on an ad hoc basis, by three or more law students. Inquire at the Circulation Desk.

All conference rooms except Room 2 are equipped with computer network drops and all rooms have very good wireless reception.

No smoking, food, beverages (except water), or beverage containers (except clear plastic water containers) are allowed in conference rooms.
